Privacy Policy

Mediocracy, LLC (d/b/a The Movie Game) operates The Movie Game (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App processes, how it is used, and what rights you have over it.

Data we process: if you use email sign-in, we store your email address and authentication records needed to keep you signed in. If you sync game progress, we store game stats and badge progress linked to your user account. Movie metadata is provided by TMDB.

Service providers: we use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Cloudflare — database storage (Cloudflare D1) for your account, sign-in records, game stats, and badge progress, plus related operational logging
• Vercel — application hosting, standard request logging, and aggregated performance and usage analytics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights)
• Sentry — error and crash monitoring used to diagnose technical problems
• Email delivery (Resend, or another SMTP provider we configure) — sends your one-time sign-in codes and relays feedback you submit; receives your email address (and, for feedback, your IP address) for that purpose
• TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie metadata. Movie information shown in the App is retrieved from TMDB's public API. TMDB does not receive your account or sign-in information.

How data is used: account data is used for authentication and cloud sync. Stats data is used to restore your progress across devices.

Data retention: account and synced stats are retained until you delete your account or request deletion. Some short-term technical logs may exist for security and operations.

Children's privacy: The Movie Game is rated for general audiences and may attract users under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Your privacy rights: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Residents of Oregon (OCPA), California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Virginia (VCDPA), and Texas (TDPSA) have specific rights under their state laws — including the right to know, access, correct, delete, port, and opt out of certain uses of their data. To exercise any of these rights, email support@themoviegameapp.com. We will respond within 45 days. We do not sell personal information.

Security: We use commercially reasonable safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Delete your data: you can delete your account and associated cloud data from within the app session, or request deletion through our public instructions page: /data-deletion.
